Moving Beyond Steel: Urban Renewal in Pittsburgh
VN Services provided master project scheduling and schedule analysis for the North Shore Redevelopment project, an ambitious community redevelopment project in Pittsburgh, PA. This $900+ million construction initiative was completed in 2001, and included vast municipal infrastructure improvements, demolition of the famous Three Rivers Stadium, and construction of both PNC Park & Heinz Field, new stadiums for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers professional sports teams. The project also included construction of the new D.L. Lawrence Convention Center, parking garages, surface lots and riverside recreation and pedestrian venues.
North Shore Redevelopment Initiative Facts:
- $216 million MLB stadium for the Pittsburgh Pirates
- $281 million NFL stadium for the Pittsburgh Steelers
- $375 million David L. Lawrence Convention Center
- $35 million, 11.5 acre North Shore Riverfront Park
- $65 million in infrastructure improvements including new & repaired roads, recreation areas, pedestrian bridges and sewer construction
